FYI-Food Share Giveaway

Hello Everyone,I got a call last week from the State of Wisconsin Department of Human Services informing me that I was eligible for food share. I was quite surprised by the phone call. The State never calls anyone regarding food share or any other program. I did apply for food share awhile ago and had an appointment to go for an interview. However, I never made the appointment. I did go back online to schedule another appointment and I did not hear back from anyone until the phone call last week.

The social worker informed me that they pulled unemployment records and are calling individuals that are currently collecting unemployment and informing them of what is needed to obtain a Quest card for the food share benefit. I was told to submit a copy of my rent statement and my drivers license. The social worker also told me that a brochure was going to be mailed to me explaining about the food share program and other programs that were available. I, in turn, mailed the requested documentation.

This week I recieved the brochure and found that I qualified to apply for another program which I promptly did. If you or anyone you know is currently collecting unemployment, call the Department of Human Services in your state to find out if you qualify for food share or food stamps and/or any other programs. Stimulus funds have gone or are going to all of the states and Wisconsin has decided to use some of the stimulus money to help individuals sign up for state benefits. I have to admit that it was a very pleasant surprise and I hope this information helps somebody out. Have a great weekend.
